The first entry in the ADVENTure Contest is from the grade 5/6 art club St. Andrew’s School. The first week of Advent begins on Sunday December 3rd, and the theme is Keep Awake! St. Andrew’s and HFCRD invite you to reflect on this theme: are you keeping awake and watching for the many ways that God shows up in your life? Our lives are blessed by God’s presence every single day, and for the first week of Advent, we invite you to be present and to be grateful for all the ways God blesses you.
What does Keep Awake mean to St. Andrew’s art club students? Here’s what they said:
“Keeping awake means to me that we need to stay awake for the celebration of Advent because it is a very special celebration.”
“Keeping awake means to not fall asleep, and stay alert for Christmas and for God’s coming.”
“Keeping awake means to me that you are keeping alert for Jesus’ upcoming event and his birth so you are going to celebrate for his birthday. You should stay alert for his coming.”
