Families Encouraged to Take Student Transportation Survey from Alberta Education

Posted on

The Government of Alberta is seeking feedback from families regarding upcoming updates to the student transportation eligibility criteria.  Student transportation is an essential part of the education system and HFCRD encourages all families to take this opportunity to voice their opinions.

According to Alberta Education, popular topics include:

  • how far away students must live from their “designated school” to receive bus services to and from school without paying additional fees. The current criteria is 2.4 kilometres
  • whether school authorities should be required to provide bus services to students who attend a school of choice, for example to enroll in a second language bilingual program; and
  • safety concerns related to whether the student receives those services

You can take the survey at this link: http://surveys.education.gov.ab.ca/novi/TakeSurveyPage.aspx?s=4e79aa9f1ceb4876a0028a5f68792960&tsid=d3891b8d96354561820d6dfab98bff2a&c=en-US

The survey closes on June 15, 2018.
