Glenmary School Start Up Modified for a Second Time

  Posted: September 1, 2017

Start up dates at Glenmary School are being modified for a second time. As mentioned last week, the modernization experienced many unexpected delays over the summer break that were related to the age of the building.  A new start up schedule has been created, and is subject to change at any time:

  • Wednesday September 6th
Staff re-enter the school to set up classrooms
  • Friday September 8th
    10:00am – 12:00pm New student orientation,
1:00pm – 4:00pm Students get timetables and lockers
  • Monday September 11th
First day of school for all students

“This morning, we decided that for health and safety reasons, we should wait one more day to ensure the school is ready for staff on September 6th.  We apologize for the inconvenience that this change may cause families,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “The health and safety of staff and students continues to be a priority in the decision-making throughout the modernization.”

With this new schedule, students will still meet the Alberta Education requirements for instructional time.  All parents and guardians have been notified of the change.  If any further amendments are needed to start up dates, all parents and guardians will be notified by Synrevoice message, and all information will be posted on the Glenmary School website, social media and on PowerSchool.

For health and safety reasons, Glenmary School staff is currently working temporarily at the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division Central Office at 10307 – 99 St in Peace River.  Registrations for new students are currently being accepted at that location.  Anyone with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the HFCRD Central Office at 780-624-3956.
