In celebration of Catholic Education Week from May 6th to 10th, Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) schools will be participating in Share the Journey, an international campaign introduced by Pope Francis. Pope Francis has challenged the faithful to embrace the experience of migrants and refugees by participating in a symbolic walk of solidarity with our sisters and brothers. His Grace has set a cumulative goal for all participating to walk a total of five laps around the world. HFCRD schools will be contributing to this total as the distance of each participant will be tracked and included in the final count.
“We are excited to participate in the Share the Journey campaign. Pope Francis calls migration the challenge of our age, and we are going to pass his wisdom on to the next generation,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “My hope is that all participants will walk away from their pilgrimage with a new understanding of the challenges of our modern world, and a new sense of gratitude for the many blessings in their lives.”
Each HFCRD school will host their own pilgrimage walk for all students, staff and their school community. To date, the campaign has walked 110,237 miles, or 89% of their goal. HFCRD encourages all of our school and parish community members to participate at their local school, and to please use the hashtag #ShareJourney while posting about their pilgrimage on social media.
