Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is pleased to announce Peter Jasinsky has been named HFCRD’s 2018 Edwin Parr Award Nominee. Jasinsky was selected at the March 20th Regular Board Meeting after being nominated by Ecole Providence School Principal Krista Veitch. Jasinsky, a first year teacher at Ecole Providence School, has displayed strong leadership skills in his grade 5/6 split class.
“Peter is a well-prepared teacher with engaging lessons that are reflective of the curriculum. His warm, caring personality make him a positive role model for his students,” said Principal Krista Veitch. “He understands the value that relationships have on student learning and strives to establish these. It is my pleasure to offer support to Peter as a promising teacher and educational leader.”
Jasinsky, who is originally from Ontario, graduated from the Brock University in 2017 earning his Bachelor of Education. During his first year of teaching, has taken the time to master a new student reporting program and helped other teachers learn the new system. He has helped the school better manage its technology. He has shown interest in growing his skills by attending several Professional Development opportunities and sharing his new knowledge with colleagues. Jasinsky has displayed leadership both in and out of the classroom by volunteering as a coach for pond hockey and by participating in all extra-curricular events and school functions such as dances, fundraising events, drama and skating programs.
Every year, an outstanding first-year teacher is recognized by the HFCRD Board of Trustees with an Edwin Parr Nomination. All nominees in Zone 1 are recognized at a Fall banquet where the Zone 1 Nominee is announced by the selection committee. The Zone 1 Nominee then goes to the provincial level in the hopes of earning one of the six provincial awards. Good luck to Peter!
